Who we are

As father and son Niels and Justin made music together more often, and various rough versions for songs started to take shape, the idea of starting a band arose.
With the addition of experienced musicians Barry Geerligs (bass) and Leon Brink (drums and vocals), the line-up of Unchain was complete and the final elaboration of the songs for a first album could take place.
The style of the songs can be described in various ways. The whole is a mixture of Metal, Bluesrock, Hardrock and maybe a few more styles. In fact a whole new mix of styles….. let's call it Concrete…for now.
For the sound of the album, a raw direct production has also been chosen in which the atmosphere of the 70s, 80s and 90s is recognizable.
All this sounds simpler than the actual course of the process. During the elaboration of the numbers, the corona came which delayed the entire process for at least one year. When the recordings could finally start in October 2021, they unfortunately came to a standstill due to a hernia injury to drummer and singer Leon.
Fortunately, Leon eventually fully recovered and the recordings could be resumed in October 2022, and were completed in the spring of 2023.

Unchain's first album has therefore been appropriately titled STRUGGLE.
